From Myth to Fairy Tale: Roars to Music

Theatre actress Astra Lanz, also known to television audiences for her role as Sister Maria in the successful series ‘Don Matteo’, together with pianist Andrea Rucli (who certainly needs no introduction in the region), bring to life an enjoyable and insightful show. The two artists interact with the audience, offering multiple levels of listening to the relationship between words and music, from fairy tales interspersed with short musical interludes to Erik Satie’s surreal proto-sketches and finally to the famous fairy tale Historie de Babar, le petit éléphant, thus introducing the audience to refined French humour. An excellent way to spend an early summer weekend in an intelligent way.

Astra Lanz
She trained at TeatroDue in Parma, where she attended the advanced specialization course “The European Actor in Theater, Dance, and Music,” and later at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. She is known to television audiences for her role as Sister Maria in Don Matteo from the 6th to the 12th series. In cinema: Ombre rosse by Citto Maselli, Nina dei Lupi by Antonio Pisu, Eterno visionario by Michele Placido, and Portobello by Marco Bellocchio. She has acted in numerous theatrical productions, including Hedda Gabler and La conferenza degli uccelli, directed by Reza Kheradmand. Il gabbiano, Il Giardino dei ciliegi, Morire o no, Moravia, La locandiera directed by Giancarlo Nanni. Zio Vanja, directed by Valentino Orfeo. Delitto e castigo, directed by Lia Chiappara. Cardiff East, and Lear by Eduard Bond, directed by Tim Stark, Opera da quattro soldi and Infantino, directed by Gianfranco Pedullà.
She worked as an actress and puppeteer for four full seasons at Gianni and Cosetta Colla’s Teatro delle Marionette in Milan. Actress and author of La cerimonia, loosely based on Jean Genet’s famous text. Her most recent productions include Camille, based on the letters of Camille Claudel, Gius(to)Borges, based on texts by Jorge Luis Borges, and Soltanto quel che arde by Christiane Singer. Since 2016, she has been conducting theater workshops, particularly in Chiavenna (SO), where the Agharti theater company was formed. From March to September 2018, while working with the Agharti company, she extended the theater workshop to inmates at the Sondrio Prison. In recent years, she has collaborated with the Scuola Fondamenta in Rome and, in Tuscany, with the Teatro popolare d’arte company.
