Officina dell'Arte
25–26 July, Malborghetto Centre
Opening hours: 10:00–12:30, 16:00–22:00
In the heart of Malborghetto, the LEGNO VIVO project promoted by “Musicae: Distretto Culturale del Pianoforte” (Musicae: Cultural District of the Piano) is organising a travelling edition of the project, combining events, workshops and exhibitions on the theme of “Wood” applied to “Music”. This innovative project combines sites dedicated to “non-frontal” music enjoyment with exhibition spaces and workshops for the “technical knowledge” of musical instruments, through their various components of lutherie, displayed alongside educational aids, including multimedia, explanatory materials and live demonstrations. Numerous artisans, professionals and companies from Friuli Venezia Giulia connected to the world of musical instruments (construction, collecting, restoration) will be present in exhibition spaces and at meetings/conferences and concert events.

The ‘non-frontal’ music conferences allow for dialogue with the audience, exploring the characteristics and construction methods, repertoire and specificities of different musical instruments in an educational and performative way. The characteristics of the project are therefore well suited to highlighting the numerous outdoor spaces in the village.
This project, which for years has focused its activities on everything related to tonewood, offers educational and performative encounters in dialogue with the audience, exploring the characteristics, construction methods, repertoire and specificities of instruments made from wood, highlighting the types and peculiarities of the raw material in relation to its intended use. Alongside string instruments, horns, percussion instruments, guitars, oboes, bassoons, Barberia organs, harpsichords, accordions, pianos and other works of fine wood craftsmanship, visitors can appreciate the fruits of the labour of young hands of future generations, but also hear the living voice of some of the instruments on display. As usual, the event focuses on all aspects of wood applied to music, bringing visitors into contact not only with musical instruments but also with the masters who have finely crafted them. It is a unique opportunity to listen to the stories of the artisans and the living voice of violins, guitars, harps, duduk, double basses, horns, mandolins, Barberia organs, accordions, pianos and other works of fine woodcraft, with musical moments curated by renowned artists.
